Felbridge Hotel & Spa Review

imageI love a spa weekend. Relaxing, being pampered, and a cheeky glass or 7 of vino in the evening to relax your muscles further. What’s not to like? I’m an advocate of anything that screams self indulgence and a spa weekend definitely does that.

Felbridge Hotel & Spa is located in East Grinstead; you can get to it by train or car. It’s a five minute taxi journey from the train station, and there’s also parking available. It’s situated on London Road so it’s a very easy one to find.

The reason I discovered Felbridge was through Groupon, as they were offering a deal for £60 where you got your room and use of the spa facilities (sauna, swimming pool, wet room and hot tub/jacuzzi). There was a £20 supplement to be paid for staying on a Saturday which is understandable as that’s obviously their busiest time – and me and my boyfriend upgraded out room for an extra £20 to a more spacious and luxurious room.

The room was perfect! Our bed as you can see from the photo was super comfy and spacious, and we had a view facing out to the front of the hotel. The bathroom had both a bath and shower, and as all you makeup junkies will understand, one of those perfect sinks that have big slabs of marble either side, brilliant to lay all your makeup and bits out for getting ready in the evening!

We had our matching spa dressing gowns and slippers ready for us in the wardrobe to put on to begin our big day of pampering.

We booked in for full body massages for the both of us, but we were on the brink of getting very emotional with hunger so we stopped in the bar first for some lunch. I had a chicken club sandwich and my boyfriend opted for a burger (don’t they always do that? Like are you ever going to choose ANYTHING else in your life mate?). They were to die for which is surprising as I find with hotels normally the lunch options aren’t anything to shout about but our lunch at Felbridge was gorgeous and prepped our tummies for our massages (I had an overwhelming fear of having a grumbling stomach in a silent massage room!).

The massages were 60 minutes long, and über relaxing, dimly lit with candles scattered about and some soothing music playing in the background. I don’t have massages very often so when I do have them I’ve always built up a fair amount of tension especially in my neck and shoulder area, but my masseuse (I am terrible, I can’t for the life of me remember her name!) was excellent and used just the right amount of pressure. I’m such a child when it comes to being touched and if anythings even slightly ticklish I squeal without even meaning to, so thank God that the pressure was medium at all times unless I had a lot of tension, so I didn’t completely humiliate myself!

Then it was time to enjoy the spa facilities which are completely complimentary – the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room with a mix of loungers and chairs with tables around them. As it was a Saturday afternoon it was probably the busiest period but luckily we did manage to grab some loungers. You can also order drinks for when you’re enjoying the spa facilities, so we had a couple of cocktails whilst we relaxed in the jacuzzi which was amazing. The perfect way to spend a Saturday!

They have 2 restaurants at Felbridge – The Bay Tree Restaurant and the Anise Restaurant. We dined at the Bay Tree, which had a perfect relaxed, elegant and calm atmosphere, and it was pretty quiet when we went in with just a few couples dining at the same time so it was quite romantic too which was nice. I opted for the pork to eat whilst my boyfriend had a risotto. Both were completely delicious, if not slightly small portions. Everything was beautifully presented however, and the wine perfectly complimented the dishes.

The next stop of the evening was to the bar. Qube Bar, situated next to the restaurant, was the ideal way to end the evening. Again, we managed to get an intimate table in the corner as the main crowds hadn’t arrived when we got there.

The bar staff were attentive, polite and friendly and every drink you could possibly imagine was on offer, which could only mean one thing… Slightly sore heads in the morning to say the least.

Breakfast in the morning was in the restaurant, and included in our £60 Groupon offer. It was buffet style and pretty much everything was on offer, from fruit to a full English (which definitely helped the hangover).

Felbridge is a lovely, out the way spot to get away for the weekend with friends, family, or as a couple for some relaxation and also fun if you’re after it. I will definitely go back at some point this year for a weekend of pampering and yummy cocktails!
