My Top Blogging Tips

The blogging industry has grown massively in the last few years, with celebrity endorsements taking a back seat and large companies becoming all about the bloggers.

This has meant that it has become a very popular career choice; like every other person in the world, myself and other bloggers tend to only show the best parts of our lives on social media making it a very attractive prospect. But what does it really mean to become a successful blogger? How is it achieved?

I am by no means anywhere near as successful as a lot of bloggers but I’ve been in the game for nearly 2 years and I’ve learnt a lot along the way.

So, without further ado, here are my top blogging tips.

1) Do Not Be In It For The Money

Readers can sense disingenuous bloggers. If you’ve started a blog purely to make a tonne of money then you may as well quit whilst you’re ahead. Your blog will only gain a large readership if you’re doing it because you love it and couldn’t imagine life without your little space on the Internet. If it takes off and ends up turning into your career then that’s fantastic. But don’t start a blog just to become rich. Do it because you love it and you couldn’t care less if you don’t earn a penny from it.

2) Be Patient

You cannot build an empire in a day. Don’t be downhearted or disheartened or disappointed (alliteration central) because other bloggers who started at the same time as you or later than you have more views than you or what not. Everybody is different and you shouldn’t feel that your blog is any less important because your readership isn’t currently as high. Don’t compare yourself to others and just continue doing what you love –  blogging!

3) Work Hard

Be prepared to work till very late at night – or till very early in the morning! Be prepared to travel all over the country and sometimes even further to meet people, attend events, or just to create the perfect blog post. You’ll get frustrated and annoyed and come close to giving up at times but make sure you don’t – when you feel like giving up, look at how far you’ve come already! Running a blog is a 24/7 job. You manage yourself and have to be your biggest fan and your hardest critic. Embrace the stress and turn it into something creative and positive!

4) Keep Your Integrity

Sometimes you’ll be given amazing offers and opportunities – but unfortunately, not all of them will be right for you. If your blog is on fashion and you’ve got no interest in sports whatsoever, and a sports company contact you and want you to advertise football boots for them, you’ve got to work out whether confusing your readers and making yourself appear like you’ll say yes to anything is worth it. Hint; it’s not! Stick to your roots and consider everything you’re offered. It may seem like a good idea at the time but you need to think about your blog long term and what it means to you and your readers.

5) Love What You Do

Eat, breathe and sleep your blog and you’ll suceed. If it becomes your life, then you are headed in the right direction. It should be your passion, your baby, your one true love (honestly) and you should be prepared to put in the hours and work as hard as you possibly can and love every minute of it. I’ve had some amazing opportunities, and built some lasting relationships which I’m so proud of! I’ve gotten to give hundreds of you advice on Chimnee App, which is such an incredible feeling for me. I just love it!

Happy Monday everyone and keep blogging.

All my love BGP xx
