My Latest Beauty Purchases

image

Hi everyone! So I bought a few new beauty related purchases this week and I thought I’d share what I got with you all.

So the first thing I picked up was my holy grail powder, the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. This is the 6th one of these that I’ve purchased and I will never stop buying it, I just adore it.

imageI always used to go for pressed powders and then I bought this setting powder on a whim from the Laura Mercier website and I’ve never looked back. The finish is so much more natural than a pressed powder and it doesn’t oxidise or change the colour of your foundation like a lot of pressed, coloured powders do. Each powder pot lasts me around 6 weeks-2 months on average depending on how much I go out or do a full face of makeup.

The next item I picked up was the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle.

image

imageI ordered this online and when I opened it I thought it looked way too similar to Global Glow and that it may have been a waste of money – but when I swatched it I realised the finish is completely different! Soft & Gentle is much more of a highlighting shade and has a much creamier/whiter shimmer undertone.

You need to be careful with application of this as if you apply too much it can look like less of a highlight and more like your foundation is too light. Apply sparingly to the tops of your cheekbones for the perfect finish.

The next little beauty I got was this Rimmel Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer.

imageSo basically I was always a MAC Pro Longwear Concealer girl for under eye brightening, blemish covering etc (still am!) but I smashed my lightest shade MAC Pro Longwear that I used for under my eyes (sob) and ended up having to grab a concealer from the nearest place which was a pharmacy which had a small Rimmel stand. I purchased this in Ivory and to be honest I wasn’t expecting much but I was SO pleased so I’ve now bought it for the second time.

It provides really good coverage and staying power and the shade is so perfect for brightening the under eye area, it doesn’t have the same pink undertones that I find a lot of drugstore concealers and foundations do.

The last set of things I picked up was the Clinique ‘3 Step Introduction Kit Skin Type 3’.

imageSo basically I ordered this online because I wanted to see what all the products were like and if my skin agreed with them because I invested in the larger bottles individually.

You pick the set which best suits your skin type and I believe mine was the number 3 set for combination oily skin.

You get 3 products in the set in total for £20 which I think is actually really reasonable as the set is meant to last you about a month.

imageI’m usually quite an impulse buyer when it comes to beauty; I would rarely get a sample of a product first and test it out before actually investing in it because I find I can find a use for most makeup items if they don’t serve their original purpose.

However when it comes to skincare products, if your skin doesn’t agree with them there’s literally nothing you can do with those products so I find it best to trial things before you splurge on a whole set of full sized products as it can be pretty expensive!

The description of the kit says that ‘It’s easy with the three step skin care introductory set. Just three minutes, morning and night, to see clear, smooth, radiant skin in about two weeks. Cleanse, exfoliate, moisturise. Dermatologist-developed to meet your skins needs and custom fit by skin type. Works gently, each step enhancing the next’ and then it says what the set includes but that’s what I’m going to talk to you about now!

So the first thing in the set is the Liquid Facial Soap Oily Skin Formula and you get a 50ml bottle.

imageOn the bottle it says that ‘Thorough cleansing developed by Clinique’s dermatologists for the needs of skin comfortable in the cheeks/oily in the T-Zone, or oily all over. Leaves skin feeling fresh and clean. Non-drying. Use twice daily’.

I’m really excited to use this because as most of you who read my blog know, I’ve been using the Clean & Clear Shine Control face scrub for months now and been loving it so I’m really looking forward to trying something new.

The next product in the set is the Clarifying Lotion.

imageThe instructions say to simply ‘use a cotton ball and sweep over face/throat twice daily’, and I’m really looking forward to using this as I feel like it’s going to give my skin a really smooth and mattifying finish and I’m ashamed to say I haven’t used a facial lotion in ages and I definitely should have done!

This is a 100ml bottle (can take it on a plane in my hand luggage, whoop whoop!).

And the final item in the set is the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.

imageI’ve heard such amazing reviews on this moisturiser so I really think I’m going to love it. It says that ‘after cleansing and clarifying, apply to areas of the face where needed’.

I think I’ll probably get through this the most so it’s a little annoying that it’s got the smallest tube at 30ml but I’m sure if I do love it as much as I think I’m going to then I’ll purchase the full size quite quickly.

You can shop the whole set here and choose the one applicable to your own skin type;

So that’s everything I’ve bought in the past week or so. I hope you all enjoyed this post and I’ll see you all soon!
