NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams Swatches & Review

NYX 3Hi everyone!

Today I’ve got a blog post all about a great budget beauty buy I’ve recently discovered.

The NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream.

At the price of only £5.50, these are a brilliant alternative to the more expensive option of Anastasia Beverly Hills or even Dose Of Colors liquid lipsticks.

So, let me tell you what they’re all about.

I’ve currently got 7 shades, but there are quite a few more in the range that I haven’t been able to get my hands on as of yet.

They’re a budget buy, so of course the consistency isn’t going to be as smooth as more expensive liquid lipsticks but these are still pretty great.

Not all of the shades, but some of them, I’ve found to be a bit bitty and lumpy when I’ve applied then, but simply smoothing them over with your finger can ensure that they’re looking smooth and matte.

The only other issue I’ve experienced with them is some of the lighter pink colours are a lot more of a brighter pink than a nude pink when you apply them onto the lips; I’ve found that using less product and blending can solve this issue.

Now, onto the better points about them!

They’re cheap, they look great on the lips, they’re ultra matte, with a brilliant colour range. The lasting power is really good, however you will need to reapply at least around the edges after eating.

Be careful to let them set for a little while when you first apply, as they’re prone to smudging upon first applying.

NYX 2Here are the shades I currently have; from left to right; Copenhagen, Monte Carlo, Prague, San Paulo, Milan, Tokyo, Cairo.

The pigmentation is pretty fantastic, and the best point of all about this is that they are not drying in the slightest. When I compare them to things like matte lipsticks or other liquid lipsticks, I cannot explain how brilliant they are in comparison in terms of drying the lips out.

They do not make the lips appear dry or cracked like matte lipsticks do, and the soft applicator makes them a dream to apply.

All in all, an amazing budget beauty buy that I thoroughly recommend getting your hands on.

My tips? Leave to set once applying, use a lip liner of the same shade, and apply a lip balm before to keep lips ultra hydrated.

I purchased mine from Feel Unique and Boots, so definitely have a look in both of those to try and get your hands on some.
