So you may have seen on social media that I recently got lip fillers. Well it was actually just over a month ago now!
I know that when I was considering getting them, I read every blog post and watched YouTube videos during every spare moment, just to get as much information from people who had actually been there and done that.
I’ve wanted lip fillers for a long time – my lips have never been really thin, just sort of average sized, but I thought I’d suit them being a bit bigger, and I’d seen many people have them and say how amazing they felt after having them, so I decided to get them done.
A lot of people may disagree with my decision of getting lip fillers, and are against any type of ‘altering’ to the face or body – but I am a firm believer in if there is something about yourself that you would like to alter, and you’re doing it for yourself, and yourself only, and it’ll bring you more confidence, then go for it.
So, let’s talk about the clinic, the procedure, and the results.
If you google ‘Lip fillers Brighton’ or ‘The best lip fillers in Brighton’, Allison Jeffery comes up every single time.
Allison has been doing lips for years. She has been named time and time again as one of the best in the industry; the clinic is multi award winning and if you ever go to the clinic, you’ll immediately feel at ease. It’s absolute pristine, white flooring, sofas, shelves and desks. You don’t get a ‘clinical’ vibe as such, just an aesthetically pleasing surrounding to sit and wait in before your consultation or procedure.
I didn’t get any photos inside the actual room that I had the procedure in, because I was immediately lying down with the numbing cream applied.
The numbing cream that Allison uses is a professional medical numbing cream, and it really does work – she applies it on the surrounding areas of the mouth as well as the lips.
Now, Allison is renowned for her ‘Designer Lips’, which consists of 2 Juvaderm syringes of filler. Juvaderm is pretty much the only thing you want in your lips; it’s the best kind of filler, and the safest. It’s what the Kardashian’s have! It’s a smooth consistency gel, compared to a lot of fillers that have a granular consistency and therefore give a horrible lumpy effect.
Juvaderm is in a family of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers; the acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the body that holds water in at the injection site and acts as a ‘cushion’, adding temporary volume and smoothness. They last around 4-9 months, and an average of 6 months.
Allison fully explained everything to me as she was doing it, which left me feeling at ease. I opted for only one syringe worth, as it was my first time having lip fillers, and I wanted them to look as natural as possible.
I wouldn’t say it was painful, but I was uncomfortable. My eyes were watering but I wasn’t in pain, and it is an immensely quick procedure.
Allison concentrated on injecting the filler on the edges of my lips to get a really nice, natural and plump shape, and that’s exactly what she achieved.
Here is a before and after of my lips (the after being from the same day). Because I wasn’t a great fan of my lips before, I always used to overline them with lip liner, which is what I’d done in the before photo as I so desperately wanted bigger lips!
I feel like they look so natural and plump, and I enjoy wearing makeup so much more now, as I can just naturally line my lips instead of always going severely over the edge to look like I have bigger lips than I do.
I was so pleased with the result – I was petrified of having a ‘trout pout’ and looking like I’d had lip fillers, but I don’t think you’d even know I’d had them if you hadn’t seen my lips before.
I took Arnica tablets in the days leading up to my lip fillers, and the days after, and I had a small amount of swelling and a really tiny bruise on my top lip which faded in 2 or 3 days, all of which is totally normal, but apart from that I had no after effects whatsoever.
I can’t recommend Allison enough; she is so knowledgeable and talented, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I will be returning to her for lip fillers every 6-9 months now when mine have dissolved, as I love the look of them and I am absolutely in love with the results!
