Disappointing Products 5

Hi all!

I hope you’re all well.

I did a Disappointing Products blog post quite a while ago now, and you all seemed to really enjoy it, so I’m doing another updated one today to show you products that I really didn’t get on with.

This isn’t to slag off the brand – every product I’ve featured, I have other items of theirs which I absolutely love, it’s just I didn’t get on with this particular product.

So, the first item is the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in shade Trooper, which is black.

Disappointing Products 1Disappointing Products 2So, I’d heard some mixed reviews about this, but the good ones were really good. I bought it from Rose’s Beauty Store which is a website that stocks hard-to-get American beauty brands. As you can see the tip is really fine so I thought it would give a really precise line.

Also, as the name is ‘Tattoo Liner’ I assumed that it would be like a tattoo; as in, not budge for the entire day/evening, and stay exactly in place. Ohhhhh no.

This product, which isn’t exactly cheap, smudges more than any Maybelline or even Collection eyeliners that I’ve used. When I do my liquid liner in the inner part of my eye, it immediately wipes off, like water. I know the inner part of your eye waters and so product smudges more, but this immediately comes off.

I don’t find it gives a precise line at all, it fades from black to grey, and the staying power is awful. I was so disappointed with this product, literally. I thought it was going to solve all my eyeliner woes, but I would probably say it’s one of the worst I’ve ever used. I think Kat Von D as a brand is amazing and has some incredible products, but this eyeliner simply did not work for me.

Next, is something I’m really sad about not liking because it’s so bloody beautiful to look at.

Disappointing Products 3Disappointing Products 4The Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Sunset Pink is my most expensive disappointing product, at a whopping £34.

Now, it’s gorgeous to look at, let’s be honest here, it’s wonderful.

The pigmentation when you swatch it on your finger isn’t even too bad, but when I apply this on my face…it disappears. It’s like it’s not even there, and for £34, I really do expect more than that.

As you can see it’s extremely shimmery and there’s a multitude of shades, however this gives me the same pay off as when I lightly apply my NARS Orgasm blush, which is one single, reasonably light pink shade.

I don’t really know what’s gone wrong with this product as it’s obviously a lovely compact and contains lovely shades, but the pigmentation is just not worth £34 at all. I own cheaper blushers and highlighters that do the job ten times better than this for a fraction of the price. And it’s a massive shame because my Bobbi Brown bronzer is one of my favourite ever products. Ah well.

Disappointing Products 6The NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils in 630 Cashmere and 631 Sparkle Leopard are next up.

These looked absolutely gorgeous when I swatched them on my hand in Boots, so I knew I had to get them. Plus they were only about £5.50 each I think.

Anyway, when I applied them, they were just way too thick and hard to apply; the product was almost coming out clumpy. Also, your eyes are extremely delicate, and with these you have to press so hard to get a decent amount of product out. Also, they appear a lot more pigmented on the hands than on the eyelids, and I just really didn’t like the consistency or the finish of them. Also the staying power really isn’t very good; you can apply it and literally wipe your finger along your eyelid and it will all come off.

Lastly, I have a fake tan that didn’t live up to expectations. The Dr. Organic Moroccan Glow Self Tan Mousse was a really difficult product to use.

It’s a pure white mousse – meaning you can’t see if you’ve missed any bits out when applying it. If I use a gradual tan that’s white, it leaves the skin wet so I can see where I’ve applied it, whereas with this, because it’s a mousse it sinks in immediately.

I went to sleep with this tan on, and when I woke up the next day I had white patches everywhere, where I’d missed small patches in random places.

I love the idea of it being organic, and it smells like cinnamon – but it’s just so unhelpful that it’s white, it’s just a complete nuisance to apply.

So that’s all of the products I’ve found disappointing recently – have any of these products worked for you? What products have let you down recently? Let me know!

Speak soon my loves!

All my love BGP xx
