La Mucca Nera

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well!

I’m sharing a new little Brighton spot on the blog with you today, called La Mucca Nera, situated halfway up St James Street.

Prosecco and ice cream are two of my favourite things in the world, so to have the two combined is something of a dream for me.

I honestly feel like not enough bars offer a good dessert, and not enough dessert places offer a good drink; who else has been in a bar or a pub, and the only thing available is a pie and mash or some chips. I WANT A CAKE, OKAY?

Well, La Mucca Nera in Brighton has totally saved all our skins with this, offering a range of ice cream, sorbert and cakes, alongside prosecco which is their specialty, and also a range of beers, wines etc.

This was probably the best ice cream I’ve ever had in my life; it was their Chocolate Fondant flavour and tasted like Lindtt chocolates and chocolate sauce blended together and frozen into an actual icy pot of heaven.

That alongside a glass of prosecco was my ideal Sunday daytime situation; I could not have been happier.

To cleanse my now over-indulged palette I had a cone with melon and strawberry sorbet which was so refreshing. We visited quite late in the afternoon, however there was still a queue out the door at one point; I feel like La Mucca Nera has already got a reputation has one of the best ice cream parlours in the city.

I chatted to Michelle, the joint owner alongside her husband Fabrizio. She told me he comes froma  small town in the north of Italy, and his grandfather had cows which they used to get fresh milk from in order to make gelato.

It’s gone back 2 generations in Fabrizio’s family, so they know their stuff.

Michelle is from Brighton, and met her husband in Italy when she was out there for work, and they now have 2 children together which is a bit of a fairytale story! I swear when we all become grandparents, all we’ll be able to tell our grandkids is that we met Grandpa on Tinder!

La Mucca Nera only use fresh fruit for their sorbets, and they also have a pasticceria, which is full of loads of amazing looking cakes and pastries – you seriously need to go and indulge.

I love discovering little Brighton gems that aren’t part of a massive chain, and La Mucca Nera is definitely one of them. There website is here –¬† you want to take a look for yourself. If you do pop along, make sure to give them a rating on Facebook/Trip Advisor – it really helps local businesses.

I’m honestly so glad I discovered such a wonderful little place that has combined my 2 ultimate things – prosecco and desserts, and I can’t wait to visit them again soon, although I’ll need to eat healthily for once in the week leading up to it, so that I can go to absolute town in there!

Speak soon.

All my love BGP xx
