Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well.
This is the second time I’ve done this post; it went live earlier and somehow got deleted which I actually shed a tear about, as anyone who’s written anything quite long out, whether it’s an assignment for uni, a blog or whatever, will know how long it takes and then for it to get deleted just makes you want to punch a wall. So I’ve had a little cry and started again.
August has been a funny month for me. I ended up going into hospital on the 15th and having my appendix out on the 17th, so I only had 2 weeks of actual product using before it was barely even soap and water, and definitely no foiled eyeshadow and red lipstick!
Because of that, I don’t have as many makeup favourites this month, it’s more skincare/haircare because I’ve had to do a lot of repair work on the old skin and hair after coming out of hospital because it was in a right state!
So, without further ado, here are my August beauty favourites…
Zoeva 102 Silk Finish Brush – I’ve been using makeup brushes to apply my foundation rather than sponges for the past few months, and I’ve really been enjoying it. This one is a great price, applies my foundation in a really flawless and natural way, it’s fantastic for buffing, and yeah, I JUST LOVE IT! Sorry, because this is the second time I’m writing all this out I am getting very stressed hahaha. Basically, this brush is fab. Buy it.
Zoeva 228 Luxe Crease Brush – Firstly, please ignore my face mask pot with, well, face mask all over it. I did babywipe it all down after this picture, I promise. Probably should’ve done it before. Also, the brush is sold out in black, so I’ve linked it in rose gold, which costs the same and is prettier so, winner winner. This has got quite a precise tip, it’s brilliant for blending but because it’s slightly more tapered and exact, it’s great for gently blending a cut crease.
Morphe Brushes M511 Large Round Blender Brush – This is sold out, so I’ve linked a similar one that I also like. It’s fluffier and larger than the Zoeva one, although mines extra fluffy because I’ve had it a little too long! Brilliant for blending transition shades and a solid colour all over your lid; cheap, works really well, and a tool anyone who wears eyeshadow needs.
The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream – After using a moisturiser for ages that cost about 60 something quid and was utterly shit, I was so happy to find one that’s cheap (13 quid is pretty good I think?) and works. It’s light, refreshing, soothing, and makes my skin feel plump, healthy and hydrated. Packed full of all the good stuff like Vitamin E and hyaluronic acid, it’s very simple and effective, and I love it. It smells nice, and the packaging is pretty. What more could you want?
The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask – Excuse the fact it’s a bit messy – it generally is a bit of a messy mask if I’m honest. I love it though – I don’t wanna get too much into the details, as I’m planning a big ol’ post of my favourite face masks where I’ll fully discuss what they do, how they work etc etc, so I’ll just sum this up; it’s a drying mask, but not to the stage where you feel like you’ve had 10 rounds of botox in an hour like some make you feel. My skin feels so deeply cleansed, soft and silky and healthy after using this, and my face looks glowing and actually pretty flawless. I had a spot above my eyebrow that was like a 2nd head, and this cleared it up. Thoroughly recommend, and as face masks go, it’s really not that expensive at all, when you compare it to others in the market.
Emma Hardie Amazing Face Natural Lift and Sculpt Moringa Cleansing Balm – A spa in a jar, pretty much. You’ve never smelt anything so lovely, aromatic and relaxing; a beautifully soft balm, that melts off all your makeup and grime. I take my makeup off with micellar water and then apply this to give it a really good second cleanse, and use the flannel that comes with it, and my skin feels like silk after, and cleansed to the core. It’s luxury skincare, it’s definitely not budget, but if you’ve got some cash to splash on something that your skin will love you for, this is it. I would repurchase this again and again and again; a facial in a tub.
TIGI Bed Head Foxy Curls Calma Sutra Cleansing Conditioner for Waves and Curls – Love this – it makes your hair smell fruity and clean, and like you just wanna sniff it all day long. It works really well on curly hair, I can definitely vouch for; and it definitely does de-tangle. When I came out of hospital I genuinely had dreadlocks, I basically just had a dreadlock in a bun, and thought I’d have to just do a buzz cut to sort the situation out. I didn’t bother trying to brush it, I was too far in; I put this on overnight two nights in a row and it sorted it right out. I did still have some knots but it had dissolved the main dreadlock number. Also, you get a huge amount, meaning for once you’ll never have shampoo left and no conditioner, and also the pump makes it so handy and non messy.
Mane N’ Tail Detangler – Cheap as chips, huge bottle and it works. Alongside using the conditioner above, I also used this on my dreads. I sprayed from the mid lengths to the bottom, especially on the main knots and I don’t know how, but suddenly I could brush through them really easily. Apparently it’s infused with natural herbal extracts which helps to nourish the hair which I’m all for – this bleached barnet could do with all the nourishing it can get. Honestly, if you suffer from knotty, tangly hair, buy a bottle of this. It’ll last ages, and it’s just handy to have around.
Paco Rabanne Lady Million Eau De Parfum Spray – I kindly got sent the limited edition Monopoly collaboration one which is pictured above, but I’ve linked to the standard one, because the Monopoly one is more expensive, and I thought I’d just save you money as best I can, because the scent is exactly the same, it’s just a slightly different bottle.
I’ve used this for years; it brings back so many memories, good and bad, but I love it all the same. It reminds me of nights out, ex boyfriends, holidays, the best Summers ever; everything. I’ve continually kept coming back to it since it was released, and I’m addicted to it at the moment.
We all know I’m not the best at describing scents, so all I can describe it as, if I had to, would be sensual; it’s a sensual scent, I’ll be honest! It contains raspberry, bitter orange, orange blossom, neroli, Arabian jasmine, patchouli, honey and amber. Do with that what you will.
I would describe this fragrance as one size fits all, as in I think everyone would love this. If you needed to buy a fragrance for a girlfriend, colleague, auntie, whoever, and you weren’t sure what…I’d genuinely opt for this, as I’m yet to meet someone who doesn’t love it.
So, that’s the end of my August beauty faves; I hope you enjoyed it and got some inspiration on what to treat yourself to, or try next!
All my love BGP xx
