Disappointing Beauty Products | December 2017

Hi everyone!

I hope you’re all well.

Today, is another Disappointing Beauty Products blog post where I talk you through all the recent bits I’ve bought that I really did not like.

As always as a disclaimer, this doesn’t mean I don’t like the brand; there’s products from basically every brand I’ve featured that I love, but these particular products I didn’t get along with and it’s important that I tell you, because I hold a completely honest policy on this blog where THOU SHALT NOT LIE about anything that goes on ones face or body, and it means a lot to me that you all trust my reviews. So, on with the post.

Kat Von D Lock It Liquid Foundation – I’d been using the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation for years, and really liked it, but I realised I needed to start trying new ones because that was literally the only one I could recommend.

So, I went to the Kat Von D counter and the girl there was lovely and her makeup was absolutely flawless. I bought the Lock It Foundation, and she also did all my makeup with Kat Von D products, including the primer.

When I got home about an hour later, it was patchy as anything. Like, seriously, seriously patchy.

I then tried using it with my own primer/setting spray (my Mario Badescu baby that you can buy here) and it did stay on, but I just found it way too thick, and way too pink. When I applied it, the colour was more yellow toned, but it oxidised very, very pink on my face and just really did not look nice at all.

I just hate the finish of this on my skin, and it’s really annoying because 1) It wasn’t cheap and 2) So many people seem to love this foundation, but sadly I just don’t.

Urban Decay Naked Skin – After my issues with the Kat Von D foundation, I decided to try the foundation because I absolutely love the concealer.

NOOO, BABY NOOO (Guess the quote).

It’s way too watery, and it applies patchily because of this. It just did not sit nicely on my skin, it separated a lot on my skin, oxidised and didn’t blend as seamlessly as I’d hoped.

Perhaps it really is just my skin type, but I wasn’t keen on this at all.

Sure Invisible Aqua Roll On Deodorant  – Such a random one to include, I’m aware, but I had to. Essentially, this did not work at all. I’ve heard the spray version is really good so I might try that, but there really is not much to say about this apart from the fact that for me, this didn’t work and provide any protection whatsoever.

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel – I hate the fact that I don’t love this because so many people rave about this, it has amazing reviews, and I love the Oskia brand. Unfortunately, it just broke me out. It really did not mesh well with my skin in the slightest.

From the brilliant reviews online, it seems that I am one of the rare people that don’t get along with this, so I wouldn’t solely judge it on my opinion; it did just really break my skin out. It’s a gel that you cleanse onto dry skin and it then turns into an oil and it does remove makeup well, but obviously there’s a concoction of ingredients that my skin doesn’t like.

Brush Works HD Oval Brush – Everyone and their dog seems to be using these kinds of brushes, and when I see YouTubers using them they always seem to make people look flawless. I don’t know if it’s this specific brush, my technique, or whatever, but I really did not like it.

It was a lot of hard work applying foundation and blending it; you have more allowance for error with a stippling brush or a sponge or blending brush, because they blend product a lot more seamlessly and therefore if you do a quick application it still looks flawless and blended, however these made my foundation look patchy as anything. I had to put a lot of elbow grease in to even get half of my face done, and in the end I gave up and had to go over it again with a stippling brush because they just didn’t seem to be working.

I also had some smaller versions, that were for eyeshadows and lip products I believe and they were equally insufficient. You need a brush that’s fluffier for blending eyeshadow, and these types of brushes, for me anyway, just don’t work.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I’ll speak to you all soon!

All my love BGP xx
