Breakfast at The Ivy In The Lanes | 2018

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well!

I thought I’d put together a little post about The Ivy In The Lanes, which has recently come to Brighton. I love food more than oxygen, men or basically anything else in the world, so obviously I went barreling straight in there to see what I could stuff in my mouth.

I’ve been for breakfast twice, to order two different options so that I could give it a proper review (I try and pass it off as work but really I just want to eat ALL THE TIME) and so here I am, reporting back.

The first thing I’d say is that it’s VERY NICE in there. It’s the kind of place you go to and realise your nail varnish is chipped and you can’t quite remember when you last shaved your legs and everything around you looks pristine and you feel like you should just put yourself in the bin.

The first time I went I ordered the Hot Buttermilk Pancakes. I LOVE a pancake. Literally just lay me back, attach a funnel to my mouth and pour them straight down my throat because I love the things and these were by no means an exception.

They came with strawberries, raspberries and blackberries, Greek yoghurt, lemon balm and strawberry sauce. Now, I will be honest and say I didn’t use the strawberry sauce as the only sweet liquid I’m interested in is chocolate, and I stand by that fact.

They were so soft, light and fluffy, and the lemon balm was not overpowering at all. The perfect breakfast, and when I go back I’ll be ordering this again.

The next time I visited, I opted for The Ivy Full English Breakfast; smoked streaky bacon, cumberland herbed sausages, fried hen’s eggs, black pudding, roast plum tomatoes, grilled flat mushroom and baked beans, served with toast of your choice. I substituted my black pudding for potato hash as I’ve never been able to stomach it, and I’m glad I did as the potato hash was one of my favourite things on the plate.

I have no complaints about the fry up, except that I like my bacon a lot crispier, but to be honest that’s a pointless comment as I didn’t tell them that so it can’t be helped. I like my bacon so burnt you can snap it in half, essentially.

Everything about it apart from that, was flavorsome and cooked to perfection, and the eggs had perfect yolks as you can see.

If I had to choose between the two, I’d go for the pancakes over the fry up, but it depends what you like as it’s all personal preference I suppose!

The toilets are beautiful and I’d like to move into them please. The seating is just next level. I feel like there’s some profile picture material in laying across that. Also, the staff are really lovely and polite, and the waiter the second time around didn’t seem the least bit offended that when I handed him my bank card it had a clump of my hair attached to it.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this blog post/found it helpful to some degree, and I’ll speak to you all soon.

All my love BGP xx

P.S When someone finally takes me for a dinner date here you’ll all be the first to know.
