On My Bookshelf | 3rd June

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well!

It’s the third post in my weekly blog series, On My Bookshelf, where I talk you through the book/books I’ve read the previous week. I am ashamed to admit I didn’t finish a book the last week…I nearly have! However, not quite, so instead I’ve featured some that I recently finished reading instead.

The Cactus by Sarah Haywood – Available here (Affiliate Link)

I loved this book so much – Susan the main character is so quirky and likable. It follows the story of the aforementioned Susan, who has a very regimented life, and finds herself unexpectedly pregnant in her 40’s, and how she navigates the unexpected death of her mother, difficult family relationships, and impending motherhood. I absolutely adored it and would love a sequel!

Queenie Malone’s Paradise Hotel by Ruth Hogan – Available here (Affiliate Link)

I struggled with this book at first, but towards the end I really enjoyed it. It’s based in Brighton, and set in 3 parts; distant past, more recent past, and present. It follows Tilly’s life as a little girl growing up with her mum and dad, and then moving away to the Paradise Hotel where she grew up, and her journey of returning as an adult. It’s quirky,  unique and quite magical.

I hope you enjoyed the latest in On My Bookshelf – I’ll be back next Monday!

Speak soon.

All my love BGP xx
