*Paid Partnership with The View Hotel and our stay was complimentary*
Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well!
I like a Sussex night away; in fact, I’d go as far as saying I love one. It’s all well and good getting away, but when it’s a 6 hour round trip, it can add a whole other layer of stress, traffic jams and take away half the day before you’ve even arrived.
Sussex is jam packed with relaxing nights away and Eastbourne is one of them; it’s not somewhere people talk about all too much, but it has a lovely seafront, great places to eat, and the shopping centre is fantastic; it’s actually probably my go to shopping destination in Sussex, namely because of the ginormous Primark. Not so good for my bank balance, however.
I was invited to stay at The View Hotel in Eastbourne, probably the most modern of them all. Licenced for wedding ceremonies, and also a hot spot for birthday and anniversary parties, the hotel is a gem overlooking the sea.
We stayed on a Sunday evening, looking to wind down and relax after a manic week and it didn’t disappoint; our room was huge, with a big balcony overlooking the sea with an absolutely breathtaking view both at sunset and sunrise, of which I captured both and have put below for you! I honestly could have sat there for hours looking at the view; it was just amazing.
We had some chilled drinks in the bar area which is huge – I think people tend to forget about hotel bars for evening drinks but they’re always somewhere I love to head as they have a really nice atmosphere. When we left to head to dinner, we came across the Wish Tree which is something I want to talk to you all about.
The View Hotel have introduced something really touching this Festive season; it’s a Wish Tree, in which you can head into the hotel and put a wish on for yourself, or for someone else. It could be for your mum, who works really hard and never has any disposable income to spend on herself and you’d love for her to be treated to an Afternoon Tea. It could be for yourself, and you desperately want to visit your family at Christmas but can’t afford the train fare.Whatever it is, if you pop into the hotel and put it on the tree, the hotel will be trying to make as many as possible come true this year, and I think that’s just amazing, and exactly what Christmas is about. Well done, The View Hotel!
As it was a Sunday, a Sunday roast goes hand in hand with that, so we had a Carvery at the hotel which went down very well indeed. We had Carrot & Coriander Soup to start with, accompanied with bread and butter which was lovely. I become an absolute soup fiend as soon as September hits, so I always loe finding it on the menu! Next was the carvery, and we both went for beef and gammon. Our plates were piled embarrassingly high, but there was a lovely chilled atmosphere in the restaurant – and luckily no judgmental eyes were cast upon us for the 5 foot tower of potatoes!
The desserts were also laid out for you to choose from – prepare to drool at the photo. I picked an amazing Chocolate Tart with cream even though I was already stuffed. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again – I have a separate stomach for dessert!
The View Hotel currently have a lovely Festive Afternoon Tea available up until 23rd December if you’re an Afternoon Tea lover – definitely something to pop by and try out!
It was a really lovely and relaxing stay at The View – as I’ve got older, I’ve realised not every night away has to be about going wild in the bar or finding the nearest club, and sometimes finding a really nice hotel, having a nice dinner and a few drinks and then retiring to the room to stick on Netflix sounds way more appealing – however old that makes me sound!
You can check out The View here https://www.theviewhoteleastbourne.com/ and have a look at their overnight stay and dining options. A lot of you ask me for Brighton hotel recommendations, so if you don’t want to stay central and are happy to be a train or bus journey away, then this is a great option to look into.
I hope you enjoyed this post, and let me know your thoughts if you stay there.
All my love BGP xx
